Experience the Rhythm of the Outer Banks: Duck Jazz Festival 2024

Mark your calendars for one of the most anticipated events on the Outer Banks—the Duck Jazz Festival!

The Duck Jazz Festival is an annual event hosted by the Town of Duck in early October, on Columbus Day weekend. This year, come on by the Duck Town Park on October 12 – 13 for a musical event like no other!

Bring your own chairs, blankets, food, coolers, and even your well-behaved dogs to lounge and enjoy the music (though the Town of Duck requests that you leave your umbrellas and tents at home!). Chairs will also be available to rent on site, though the festival itself is not only free, but non-ticketed. Feel free to come and enjoy for as long as you want!

Saturday, October 12 will be a small concert-on-the-green from 4 – 6pm by the U.S. Army Blues, with a Live Jam at 7:30pm while the Sunday, October 13 event will be from 10am onwards (music starts at 11am). Food and soft drinks will also be available for purchase if you don’t want to bring your own!

At the main stage, enjoy performances from Jazzmeia Horn, The Lao Tizer Band, and Antonia Bennett. Or, if you’re wanting to see the amphitheater performances, you can expect to hear music from the First Flight High School Honors Jazz Band, The Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience, and the Empire Strikes Brass.

If you’re looking for more fun, there are a few events that will be going on in the days prior to the festival proper.

On Thursday, October 10, stop by the Duck Town Park at 6pm to see a performance from the Elizabeth City State University Choir. On Friday, October 11, a rhythm play session and children’s story time event will be held at 10am in the park, with Back to the Future being screened at 6:50pm in the evening - the festival will take place rain or shine, so come along for a great time!
